| Description |
The purpose of amateur radio
clubis to promote global friendship and communication
while learning basic electronics and radio theory. Members may also participate
in various public service activities. |
| Activities |
Communicate using HF and VHF radio frequencies,
assist local amateur radio clubs in their public
service activities (Athens Marathon, Great Ohio
Bicycle Adventure, various charitable walks, Red
Cross disaster operations) and participate in
radio contact competitions, such as ARRL Field Day
which tests emergency communications
capability.
Training for licensing exams and for severe
storm spotting for the National Weather Service
may also be provided by the club. AHS
trained storm spotters may assist in observing for
approaching severe weather during weather watches
or warnings. |
